Star Wars: Battlefront - Jawa Refuge

My role for Star Wars: Battlefront was Planet Owner of Tatooine. Together with Tim Mcleod the two of us created all the 7 original Tatooine maps and all its nature content for the game.

This level is created with our Canyon 'LCK' (Level Construction Kit). Concisting of:
Four cliff assets, four rock assets, a large cliff piece, an 8k LIDAR terrain with three terrain materials and a 100km LIDAR backdrop mesh. (see breakdown in the Raider Camp post)

Some of my responsibilities were. Terrain heightfield, textures, shaders and masks, Finding, processing, cleaning and prepairing LIDAR data. Photogrammetry capturing on site in the Canyonlands of Utah. Rock detail shaders with adaptive tiling detail, terrain blending and global color tinting, Scatter assets and the large cliff asset. Tusken raider flipbook shader. Level art and set dressing. 100 km LIDAR Backdrop mesh. Jawa City backdrop mesh. Optimization.

We decided to place the level in a dramatic area of the LIDAR terrain with high drops.
